Oxford Biomaterials Limited

Like Newrotex, Oxford Biomaterials is based in Oxford Science Park. Newrotex Co-founder Prof Fritz Vollrath is a former Director of the company, while our COO Dr Robyn Plowright was previously the R&D Manager at the company.

Oxford Biomaterials aims to establish a global market for its silk biomaterials, and its proprietary Spidrex platform is used in a wide range of medical devices. Laboratory research shows that Spidrex nerve conduits are effective for guided nerve growth.

University of Oxford

The oldest university in the English-speaking world, the University of Oxford is a world-class research institute that maintains strong links with Oxford Science Park. Newrotex Co-founder Prof Fritz Vollrath leads the university’s Oxford Silk Group, while our Observing Director, James Mallison, managed the university’s technology spinout portfolio for 15 years.

Orthox

Founded to commercialise technology developed at Oxford University, Orthox develops regenerative tissue implants to repair damaged cartilage and other orthopaedic injuries.

The Griffin Institute

Newrotex has partnered with The Griffin Institute to conduct clinical trials. Officially the Northwick Park Institute for Medical Research, by performing high-quality pre-clinical research in biological and life sciences, the not-for-profit institute aims to accelerate innovative solutions that improve and maximise patient care.

To date, Newrotex has received 2 grants totalling £400K from Innovate UK. As part of UK Research and Innovation, the non-departmental public body funds and supports organisations making new products and services.

NAMSA

Newrotex has partnered with North American Science Associates, Inc. for regulatory pathway and reimbursement guidance. Headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, USA, the medical research organization provides expert regulatory, laboratory, clinical, and compliance services to medical device manufacturers.

Newrotex has retained the services of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, an American law firm that specializes in intellectual property law.
